“I feel like my insides are being gnawed by stress,” Grey’s Anatomy star Abigail Spencer said of her experience.

Abigail Spencer looks back on some of the trials she faced as she marked her 41st birthday.

The Grey’s Anatomy actress unlocked up about her struggles to maintain physical and mental health amid “the toughest year of my life” in an emotional Instagram post on Thursday.

In a collection of photos showing a recent trip to Paris with his son Roman Pruett, 13, and his girlfriend, Miss Jai Alexander, 64, Spencer smiles as he shares glimpses of the personal turmoil that followed his 40th celebrations. And How He Overcame It.

“On August 4, 2021, I entered the toughest year of my life,” Spencer wrote. “It almost killed me, and if I didn’t train my mind, body, and spirit and surround myself with the most amazing community of friends and healers, I don’t think I could. I’m sharing, but I will share some emotional headlines about the impact with you.”

“Stress almost killed me,” he explains. “I feel like my insides are being eat away by stress.

I couldn’t get up from the floor for several days. Fear and loss overtook me. Fear will catch me. In the struggles of my life.” Spencer added that symptoms began to show up physically, noting how he “cried so hard it made me throw up several times.”

“Some days, I would tremble for hours as I braced myself for the constant stress. It’s been days since I haven’t left the house. I can’t catch my breath [sic]. It all seemed so hard. I spoke to a cardiologist, and he said I didn’t have a heart attack, my heart was very broken, and I needed to be restrained,” he recalls. Over time, and through working with his “healing community,” Spencer underwent a change of energy that allowed him to close a rather painful chapter in his life.
