In her first interview for reunification, singer Abba Annie-Fried Lingstad said that they were “not too sure” that their comeback album Voyage would be their last.
On Friday, the Swedish superstars released their first record in 40 years. “I’ve learned never to say never say,” he told Zoe Ball on Radio 2 about the prospects for future projects.
Lyngstad said returning to the studio with bandmate Agneta Feltskog felt like “coming home and having fun with my little sister. The album received mixed reviews of critics but will be number one in the UK on Friday.
Due to the Official Charts Company, the album will be the fastest-selling album of the year, beating out the other top 40 albums in the first two days after its release.
Listed and Feltskog rarely gives interviews, and their bandmates Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Say a condition for their return is that the singers don’t speak to the media.
However, Lyngstad, known as Frieda, appeared on Radio 2’s breakfast show on Thursday. And said she was happy with the response to the release but cared less about people’s opinions than about the band’s heyday.
“Of course, we’re happy because we didn’t expect anything,” Ani-Fried Lingstad he said. “It’s always like you get a little nervous when you release something new.
“But if I compare it to 40 years ago, it’s a bit different because I would say. That I don’t take it as seriously as I did when I was younger because it means so much.
“But as Benny said in a previous interview, we don’t have to prove anything. So we do it just for fun. And that’s a good feeling. And when people like my looks, of course, it’s great.”
