Arsenal’s Title Hopes Dented After Shocking 2-2 Draw With Wolves

Arsenal’s Premier League title ambitions took a significant hit on Wednesday as they threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux. The result leaves the Gunners vulnerable, with Manchester City now able to close to within two points should they win their game in hand.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring inside the first five minutes, and Piero Hincapie doubled the lead shortly after half-time. With the tie seemingly wrapped up, Arsenal appeared to ease off — a decision that would prove costly.

Wolves Stage Stunning Comeback

Wolves, who had collected just nine points before the match, refused to lie down. Hugo Bueno pulled one back on 61 minutes with a curling effort, before debutant Tom Edozie delivered a stunning 94th-minute equaliser that deflected off Riccardo Calafiori to deny Arsenal all three points.

Merson Fires Warning at Arteta’s Side

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson was scathing in his assessment, accusing the team of playing in “second gear” and warning the slip-up could “come back to bite them.” Speaking on Sky Sports, Merson said Arsenal gave the ball away cheaply and lacked urgency until it was nearly too late — a mentality he described as dangerous in a title race.

Manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged the team’s failings, calling the result “very tough to accept” and admitting his side failed to meet the required standards in the second half. With a crucial North London derby against Tottenham on Sunday, Arteta urged his players to “stand up” and respond with a strong performance as they chase a first league title since 2004.
