Sesko Avoids Serious Injury, Expected Back Soon

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has delivered positive news regarding striker Benjamin Sesko’s injury, confirming the £73.7 million summer signing avoided a serious knee problem. Sesko limped off during United’s 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur last week, prompting initial concerns about a significant setback. However, after undergoing scans and beginning rehabilitation at Carrington, Amorim revealed that the injury is far less severe than initially feared.

Recovery Timeline and Return Expectations

Amorim expressed optimism about Sesko’s recovery during his latest press conference. “He is going to stay a few weeks out, I don’t know how long but it is not that serious,” the United manager stated. “We have to be careful with him. He is going to recover, he is doing the recovery and he is feeling better. In a few weeks I expect to have Ben.” The Portuguese tactician is hopeful Sesko will return before Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo, and Noussair Mazraoui depart for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Squad Depth and Alternatives

Sesko’s absence leaves United without a genuine number nine, forcing Amorim to adapt tactically. Matheus Cunha is expected to lead the attack during the striker’s absence, with support from available forwards. The injury situation is compounded by upcoming AFCON commitments, which will further deplete United’s attacking options during the festive fixture schedule. Amorim has indicated he may call upon academy prospects like Jack Fletcher and Shea Lacey to fill the void. Friday’s training session saw additional absences from Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo, adding to the manager’s injury concerns.
