Couple’s Sky-High Wedding Eyes Guinness World Record

Vidhi Popley and Hridesh Sainani celebrated their wedding on a Boeing 747, following in the footsteps of Vidhi’s parents, who claimed to have set the airplane wedding record in India in 1994.

A Lavish Celebration in the Sky

The Popley family, known for their prominent jewelry business in the UAE and India, spared no expense in creating a lavish wedding celebration. The couple’s wedding planner, Chimoo Acharya, noted that the sky was the limit for spending on weddings in Dubai, with events of this magnitude costing between $1.6 million and $1.9 million.

A Grand Entrance and Airborne Extravaganza

The wedding festivities kicked off with a grand entrance, as the couple arrived in a red Ferrari surrounded by an entourage. Over 300 guests joined the three-hour celebration aboard the luxury aircraft, which traveled from Jetex’s private terminal in Dubai to Oman. Attendees experienced a transformed airplane cabin with decorated seats, floral accents, music, and an atmosphere beyond first class.

Sikh Traditions in Unconventional Settings

While the wedding took place in an unconventional setting, Vidhi and Hridesh incorporated Sikh traditions into their vows. The couple’s wedding planner meticulously navigated a 12-month process to ensure a seamless flight with no delays, creating a memorable and record-worthy celebration in the sky.

Eying Guinness World Record

The Popley-Sainani wedding is being considered for a Guinness World Record for being the first wedding on an airplane in the United Arab Emirates. The unique and extravagant celebration reflects the couple’s commitment to love and the fulfillment of a father’s dream, creating an unforgettable chapter in their love story.
