Duck Prescott gives an emotional interview about the “fear” of sending kids to school after another mass shooting.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Duck Prescott said the shooting at Uwalde’s school. Which occurred just 580 miles from the team’s headquarters scared him off giving birth to his children.
“Honestly, I was scared of having kids… And that’s not true,” said Prescott, 28, in an emotional interview with USA Today after the team’s training session in Dallas.
“Sad… I don’t care if you’re an athlete or not,” he continued. “We are talking about children. We are talking about the future. I want to say that I have no children, also I cannot imagine having to send my child to school with this fear.”
Other Cowboys members spoke of the tragedy, which killed 21 people – 19 children and two teachers.
DeMarcus Lawrence, who plays defensively for the Texas team. Shared his thoughts on Twitter and spoke to USA Today, saying, “I felt like we were sitting and looking outside, and we were like, ‘This isn’t my family, so it has nothing to do with me. “
“I don’t feel safe sending my children to school,” added the 30-year-old father of four.
Tuesday’s shooting took place at Rob’s Elementary School also is now the second-deadliest school shooting in United States history. This comes nearly a decade after the December 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, killed 26 people.
Authorities said the assailant shot and killed his grandmother, who has so far survived her injuries. Before she was driving to school and her car hit a nearby ditch and then entered the building.
All the deaths occurred in classrooms, authorities said.
The suspect – who has now been confirme dead is believe to have been killed by police. However, if known, the motive for the murder has not been released.
