Palace Warn Man Utd Over Wharton Price Tag

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has acknowledged Manchester United’s interest in midfielder Adam Wharton while sending a clear message about the club’s valuation of their star player.

Wharton has emerged as one of the Premier League’s standout performers since joining Palace from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024. The 21-year-old’s impressive displays have attracted attention from Europe’s elite, with Manchester United, Liverpool, and Real Madrid all monitoring his situation.

The England international was instrumental in Palace’s historic FA Cup triumph last season and has featured in all 10 matches he’s been available for this campaign, cementing his status as a key player for the Eagles.

Champions League Ambitions Acknowledged

Parish admitted that Wharton will likely harbor ambitions of playing Champions League football, whether at Selhurst Park or elsewhere. “I think Adam at some point will want to play either in the Champions League with us, if we can make that happen, or probably with another club,” the Palace co-owner told talkSPORT.

However, with Wharton contracted until 2029, Palace hold a strong negotiating position. Any club hoping to secure his services would need to meet a substantial valuation, with the midfielder’s age and potential suggesting a premium price tag.

Palace’s Strong Position

Parish’s confidence stems from Wharton’s contentment at Palace and the club’s ambitious project. The chairman wouldn’t be surprised if United intensify their pursuit, but Palace are under no pressure to sell their prized asset.

The midfielder’s rapid rise from Championship football to becoming a Premier League standout has been remarkable, and his performances suggest he has the quality to succeed at the highest level. For now, though, Palace remain determined to keep hold of their midfield maestro as they pursue their own European ambitions.
