“I know what it’s like to hit the road and not be ready for it. I know what it’s like to be overwhelmed or exhausted,” Lovato said on the Karson & Kennedy Show Audacy. “It’s never a pleasant feeling, and when it comes to mental health, it’s like, ‘Oh my God. So my heart is only for him.”
Lovato continued, “I’ve been thinking about it. It’s been four years since I toured, and I’m at a different age, in a different place in my life…” In a vulnerable statement shared via Instagram on July 8, Mendes said he was heartbroken. Speaking to Karson & Kennedy, Lovato shared how taking time off during the coronavirus pandemic has given them a different perspective on the little things. “Quarantine has taught me to value free time, sit outside, feed my squirrels in peace, and appreciate simplicity. In addition, I’ve been touring almost every year since I was fifteen.”
