“We must take each other’s health as seriously as we take music,” the group said in a statement, adding. That “mental health issues mean we won’t be able to perform live now or shortly. Goodwin said he couldn’t commit to touring right now and thanked his teammates – including twins Andy and Jazz Williams – and fans for their support.
“You should never apologize for any mental health issues.
But I want to apologize to everyone who has bought tickets,” he said. “I sincerely thank you for the patience, love, and understanding of my brothers Andy, Jazz and [Martin’s touring keyboard] Rebels.” The 51-year-old singer and bassist said the ratings he received for his latest album on the charts ensured “the sunshine in these turbulent times.”
After starting their life as a sub-dance artist in the early 1990s, Doves switched to an alternative rock style and released four albums between 2000 and 2009 before quitting in 2010. During the break, Goodwin released his debut solo album Odludek in 2014, while the Williams brothers played the musical Black Rivers.
The band returned live in late 2018 before releasing new songs and albums in 2020. You have been nominated twice for a Mercury Award.
