Dustin Lance Black talks about the “serious head injury” he recently suffered.
On Monday, the 48-year-old Oscar-winning screenwriter revealed his health concerns on Instagram, explaining that he had recovered for a month.
“So I’ve been away for a while… A month ago, I had a serious head injury that left me unemployed,” Black wrote. “With some improvement, my doctor ordered me to shut down my brain in hopes of getting better. It was a challenging and scary time for a creative man who relied on what was in his head for work, attention, and love. And now I understand that path going back will be long.”
“But this week, my sweet husband on top took us to the Greek islands to lock me up,” she continued, sharing photos from her and husband Tom Daley’s vacation. “I already feel this journey is a step in the right direction, and I finally feel safe to share a little more. Although Black did not reveal the cause of his injury, his post included a photo of him smiling while wearing a shirt embroidered with the word “Lucky.”
Underneath his post, Black’s followers sent their requests to the screenwriter.
“I’m glad you’re feeling better. We wish you a full speedy recovery,” commented actress and TV personality Domaine Javier, while former Great British Bake Off winner Dr. Rahul Mandal added: “Get well soon! Send lots of love.”
Photographer Lee Jeffries also wrote, “Slowly…with a head injury. Patience…and love like this will make this road much smoother. Sending you and Tom my love and best wishes, which are very important for your recovery. .”
