Harry Styles canceled his concert in Copenhagen after several people were killed and many others injured when a gunman unlocked fire on a nearby shopping mall.
Before he took the stage, gunfire erupted at the Field shopping center in the Danish capital, Copenhagen police said in a statement on social media on Sunday.
One person has been arrest in connection with the shooting, police said. They described the shooter as a 22-year-old man. “More than one person has been confirm dead and several people injured,” said police at another post. “When you are in Copenhagen, call your relatives and tell them you are fine.
Authorities also noted that they were “looking for witnesses, photos, and videos of the incident” to assist with the investigation. Styles, 28, is due to perform at the nearby Royal Arena on Sunday evening as part of his much-anticipated Love On Tour. He has lifted the suspension, writing in a statement that he was “heartbroken” at the news.
“My heart breaks with the people of Copenhagen. I love this city. The people are so warm and full of love—my condolences to the victims, their families, and all those injured. Sorry, we can’t be together. Please take care of each other. H,” he wrote on social media.
Musical acts such as Pearl Jam and Queen + Adam Lambert will also be performing at the venue in the coming weeks.
The Copenhagen Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for news comments.
