Instagram Now Lets Users Add Tagged Posts to Their Grid

Instagram has rolled out a new feature that lets users add posts they’ve been tagged in directly to their main profile grid, opening up fresh ways to showcase collaborations and shared content. Rather than tagged content living only on a separate tab, creators can now choose to display it front and center on their profile, with a small tag icon marking these posts in the grid.

A Growing Push Toward Collaboration

The update fits into a broader pattern of collaboration-focused tools Instagram has introduced in recent years, including shared post credits, joint Stories, and the ability to remix public photos. The platform previously tested an AI-based remixing tool for public posts but pulled it back shortly after launch. This latest addition gives creators a simpler, more visible way to highlight partnerships and joint content without extra steps.

Why Community Still Matters to Instagram

The move also reflects Instagram’s ongoing effort to protect what makes it distinct from pure entertainment platforms. Reels now account for roughly half of all time spent on the app, and most recent engagement growth across Facebook and Instagram has come from Reels specifically. That trend puts Instagram in direct competition with video-first platforms like TikTok and YouTube, as well as streaming services such as Netflix.

By doubling down on features that encourage users to interact with each other rather than just consume content passively, Instagram is betting that community-driven tools will keep people coming back in ways video alone might not. As competition for attention intensifies across social platforms, small usability updates like this one may play a meaningful role in reinforcing user habits and daily engagement.
