“Sometimes it’s too much to handle,” the actor said on Instagram after revealing his bipolar disorder.

On Tuesday, the 60-year-old actor aslo comedian opened up about his mental health concerns on Instagram. “Bipolar disorder is excruciating. Sometimes it’s too much to handle,” he wrote. “I did my best. It’s my first time talking about it.”

Bipolar disorder is a manic-depressive brain disorder that causes extreme changes in mood also energy levels, during to the National Institute of Mental Health.

There are four main types of disorders, characterized by periods of excitement also hyperactivity known as manic episodes. Followed by periods of depression in which the patient experiences feelings of sadness and depression.

Patients often experience intense emotions, disturbed sleep patterns and the ability to think clearly. These periods can last for long periods, days, or even weeks, with no precise prediction of when one period will last end, and another will start. This can cause the patient difficulty at work, school, also maintaining relationships.

It is estimated that nearly 6 million Americans have some form of the disorder. Including celebrities such as Kanye West, Bebe Reja and Mariah Carey, who have previously shared their experiences. Garlin’s announcement of bipolar disorder came hours before the season 10 premiere of The Goldbergs. From which he was fired after leaving the show last December amid allegations of inappropriate behaviour on set.

The actor admitted to “stupid” behaviour in a conversation with Vanity Fair that same month.

“HR has been examining me for the past three years. HR approached me about my behaviour on set for three years in a row,” he said at the time. “It was always the same. It’s about me and my stupidity on set. They don’t think it’s appropriate. I did that. Here we are. I wasn’t fired for this. We just think differently.”

Garlin also insisted that he never meant to hurt any of his colleagues, saying, “Sorry. I’m sorry for hurting anyone’s feelings or making anyone feel so uncomfortable.”
