The pair’spair’s performance will be aired tonight’stonight’s episode of Come Dance with Me… Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazi share a special moment on tonight’stonight’s episode of Come Dance with Me.
As one of the show’s judges, Dewan, 41, she exclusively told PEOPLE that he would sing with his fiancé “Falling Slowly” from the musical “Once,” which starred the actor and won the Tony Award for Best Good Actor in 2012.
“Steve hasn’thasn’t performed Falling Slow since he sang it on Broadway, and we all thought it would be an extraordinary time to have him sing while I dance,” he said.
At first glance, Kazee, 46, can be seen on-screen holding a guitar and singing a famous ballad. Dewan then started dancing and was soon joined on stage by her partner Robert Roldan.
“I love sharing memories with our kids,” Duane said of the special moment for him and Kazi.
Dewan added, “We knew the opportunity to share a scene with a song that genuinely impacted our lives was too big an opportunity to pass up! Kazee was backstage with her mother after her performance on the show.
“I met Steve years ago in a flash; it must have been five minutes,” he told PEOPLE in October 2019. I saw him play Once on Broadway and was in awe of his talent. My mom was with me, also we got to go behind the scenes and meet the actors. He has an incredible [energy] going for him.”
At that time, the actress was married to Channing Tatum. The former couple – who share their 8-year-old daughter Everly – separated in 2018 and finalized their divorce in 2019.
“I’m married, and we haven’thaven’t spoken or seen each other for six years, but I’ve never forgotten that moment,” Dewan said. “And then, six years later, it became clear that we were separated, and he contacted me.”
