Lindsay Czarniak

The Lindsay Czarniak channel spoke to NEWS about how she has spent the past two years regaining her sense of smell and taste since contracting COVID in October 2020.

More than two years after contracting COVID-19, Lindsey Czarniak is still trying to recover fully.

The 44-year-old host recently spoke to the news about his experience with Long COVID and how he tried unconventional methods to regain his sense of smell and taste. Which he lost in October 2020 when he first contracted the virus.

A recent study found that approximately 27 million people worldwide are still experiencing long-term adverse effects on their sense of taste and smell after contracting COVID.

Four months after recovering from severe COVID symptoms, Czarniak recalls he was worried he still couldn’t taste or smell. An examination by his doctor left him with unanswered questions.

“My doctor said, ‘I’m so confused because we’re still learning a lot about this,. He told the news, describing the novelty of the 2020 pandemic.

“Because there’s so much unknown, it’s frustrating.”

Czarniak admits that while losing his senses of smell and taste has been frustrating. Which his doctors warn can often lead to depression because happiness and memory can be linked to smell – he feels “guilty”. Lucky like him.

“It could have been a lot worse. Some people got sick like that, and it had a horrible lasting effect, and some people have died,” he said. “But realizing things to do with smells opened my eyes because they are memories, and to some extent, they indicate happiness. I know I can live with that; it’s not the end of the world; it just smells.”

“It’s annoying when you’re in a scenario where you want to enjoy something. But then something as simple as a smell or taste goes away,” Czarniak continued.
