LinkedIn is expanding its content discovery options with a new suggested feeds feature that recommends topic-specific feeds to users based on their engagement patterns and trending news. The social networking platform is testing the feature with selected users attending this week’s Cannes Lions festival, with initial feedback reportedly positive.
Broadening Professional Discovery
The suggested feeds function by highlighting content across different key topics that align with users’ professional interests and expertise. According to Julia Cabral Flavin, LinkedIn’s senior director of product marketing, the initiative aims to help professionals stay informed about important news updates within their fields while expanding engagement opportunities. This approach expands beyond the traditional main feed experience, providing users with curated, topic-focused alternatives.
Building on Previous Test Results
While this concept isn’t entirely new—LinkedIn tested similar alternative feed options last year—the platform is approaching it differently this time. The previous test seemingly showed limited traction, but LinkedIn believes renewed strategy could better showcase content diversity across various important industries and sectors.
The timing of this test aligns with LinkedIn’s growing content library. In May, new CEO Daniel Shapero announced impressive growth metrics: LinkedIn posts increased 14% in Q1 2026, while paid video content grew nearly 30% year-over-year. These figures suggest the platform has substantially more content to present to users across different professional interests.
By diversifying how content reaches users through suggested feeds, LinkedIn aims to increase both reach and engagement while maximizing the value of its expanded content ecosystem. A broader rollout could arrive soon if initial Cannes Lions festival testing continues demonstrating positive user response.
