Low-cost VR device to debut in 2025, according to Apple analyst Kuo

Apple analyst Kuo

In a blog post published on Friday, renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the company intends to issue “low-end” and “high-end” second-generation augmented reality/mixed reality headsets in 2025.

Apple has yet to make any official announcements or even admit. That there are plans to release a virtual reality headset. However, Bloomberg has written exhaustively about the tech giant’s strategy and recently claimed that, despite delays, the company intends to announce its first headset in June.

Bloomberg estimates that the first model will cost around $3,000, so Kuo’s claim. A future “low-end” edition will be available may indicate the arrival of a more reasonably priced model. That would enable Apple to reach a wider user group. That might not be eager to shell out several thousand dollars for the initial iteration of the AR headset.

It also demonstrates that Apple might be employing a similar tactic to that used with its other product lines.

It offers products like the expensive Apple Watch UHD and more cost-effective Apple Watch and Apple Watch SE models. Similarly, it offers both regular and pro variants of its iPads and Macs in addition to more affordable models.

The headphones will be created and manufactured by Foxconn and Luxcaseict, a partnership between Pegatron and Luxshare, according to Kuo.
