“It is a human problem,” Martha Plimpton told the news, who will host Broadway’s Acts of Abortion charity concert.

Broadway actors have come together to defend abortion rights. And Martha Plimpton and Ariana DeBose are the two artists leading the charge.

Plimpton, 51, co-founder of A is For, an organization dedicated to ending the stigma against abortion. Told the news that the Supreme Court decision earlier this year in Roe v. take Wade “hits near the house”.

He said: “I know how many people have suffered and will suffer.”

The Emmy winner Good Wife was openly pro-abortion long before SCOTUS changed the women’s reproductive rights landscape this summer.

Without the abortion itself, “I believe it would change my whole life,” she says. “But the important thing is that it did not happen… I had an abortion so I could have the career and life I wanted and move on with my life.”

Plimpton will host the upcoming Broadway Acts for Abortion benefit concert, an abortion rights fundraiser, this Sunday in New York City.

Patti LuPone, Lea DeLaria, Javier Muñoz, Drag Race star RuPaul Peppermint and many more will perform during the live karaoke night; Oscar winner DeBose, 31 – who previously attended Plimpton’s annual event – is on board A for the board. I felt and still feel like [what] I said on The Tonight Show with Jimmy [Fallon]: I feel a little bit like I am at war with my country, or my country is at war with me, sort of,” DeBose said. on PEOPLE, adding that “choice is a big problem in our country.”

Plimpton emphasizes that limiting or banning abortion affects not only women but everyone. “It is a people problem. It is a human problem,” he said, noting that transgender and non-binary people are just as directly affected as many other people.
