Meta is reportedly building agentic AI tools that will allow users to delegate real-world tasks to its AI systems across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads. Unlike traditional chatbots that answer questions, these agents will take independent action on a user’s behalf.
The primary tool, internally called Hatch, will operate conversationally within Meta’s apps. Users can issue instructions once, and the agent will execute recurring or complex tasks without further prompting — marking a significant leap in how people interact with AI.
Automating Everyday Social Media Management
Hatch could handle a wide range of activities: summarizing messages into morning briefings, scanning competitor promotions, responding to trending topics, and even sending birthday messages automatically. For marketers and business owners, this represents a meaningful shift in workflow efficiency, reducing the manual effort required to manage multiple platforms.
Instagram Shopping Gets an AI Upgrade
Meta is also reportedly developing a dedicated shopping agent for Instagram. The tool would monitor deals, match products to user preferences, and complete purchases — all without the user leaving their current feed. Imagine spotting a product while browsing Reels and having it ordered within seconds, at the best available price.
The broader challenge remains user education. Agentic AI tools require a degree of setup and trust that general consumers may not yet be comfortable with. However, if Meta can simplify the experience, it could accelerate mainstream adoption of autonomous AI — moving the technology from novelty to everyday utility.
