Meta has rolled out a fresh set of updates to its Edits video editing app, giving creators significantly more control over how their content looks and feels. The improvements span transitions, visual overlays, audio tools, and iOS-exclusive features, continuing the platform’s rapid development since its launch last year.
More Control Over Transitions and Overlays
One of the headline additions is adjustable transition pacing. Creators can now control the speed of clip merges, choosing between slow, cinematic transitions or quick, high-energy cuts depending on the tone of their content. Alongside this, text and sticker opacity controls allow users to fine-tune how prominently on-screen elements appear, making overlays either bold and attention-grabbing or subtle and understated.
iOS users receive an exclusive addition: the ability to import live photos into their projects. Creators can choose to use either the still frame or the motion element from a live photo, adding a new layer of flexibility for storytelling.
Expanded Audio and Upcoming AI Features
The update also brings over 200 new sound effects to the app’s audio library, broadening the creative toolkit available to editors. Looking ahead, Meta has confirmed that more customization options for effects, improved preference management, and additional templates are on the way.
Perhaps most notably, Meta is planning deeper AI integration within Edits. However, given the negative reception to recent AI features on Threads, the company will likely take a measured approach to rolling these out.
Edits, which recently marked its one-year anniversary, continues to evolve into one of the more capable dedicated mobile video editing tools available to social media creators.
