Meta has rolled out a fresh update to Edits, its video creation app, bringing seasonal Halloween tools together with a batch of practical editing improvements. The release gives creators more ways to polish short-form clips ahead of the spooky season, and it continues the steady stream of additions Meta has made to the app in recent months.
Spooky Fonts, Sounds and Animations
To mark Halloween, Edits now includes themed fonts, sound effects and animations that let creators give their videos a suitably creepy feel. Meta has also introduced 13 new text animations, offering plenty of variety for titles and on-screen messages. Alongside these, a set of beat-synced effects, such as flashing lights and zoom movements, automatically match the rhythm of a clip’s music and audio, saving creators from timing each effect by hand.
Captions have also been improved. Creators can choose from additional caption styles and can now edit captions in bulk, which should cut the time spent correcting subtitles across longer projects.
Smarter Color, Volume and Carousel Tools
New automated color adjustment tools aim to make balancing brightness and color simpler, while a volume control lets users boost individual clips by up to 150 percent within a project. Meta has also brought its carousel editor to Android devices, following its arrival on iOS earlier this month. The app additionally gains a new filter created in partnership with Nigerian musician Arya Starr.
With these additions, Edits is moving steadily toward becoming a complete video creation studio for social media creators. Meta has also said a desktop version is coming soon, which would widen the ways people can build and customize videos with the app. For marketers and creators, the pace of updates suggests Meta is serious about competing in the video editing space.
