Meta Brings AI Chatbot to Threads With Muse Spark Expansion

Meta is expanding its AI capabilities by bringing its Muse Spark model to Threads, allowing users in select countries to tag @meta.ai in any post or reply to receive instant, AI-generated responses. The rollout initially covers Argentina, Malaysia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore.

Muse Spark, released last month, is the first major project from Meta’s dedicated AI Superintelligence team. Built to deliver in-depth, reasoning-based answers, the model is designed to become a daily-use tool woven into how people interact across Meta’s platforms.

How It Works on Threads

Threads users with public accounts can simply tag @meta.ai in a post or reply to trigger a response. Queries can range from streaming recommendations to recipes. All responses are currently text-only and publicly viewable through the @meta.ai profile. Users who prefer to avoid AI-generated content can mute the profile or tap “Not Interested” on any Meta AI post.

Beyond Threads: A Broader AI Push

The Muse Spark expansion stretches well beyond Threads. Meta is introducing Voice Chat mode in the Meta AI app, a new Shopping Mode that searches Facebook Marketplace and broader internet listings, and a live camera feature that answers questions about real-world surroundings in real time. Muse Spark is also coming to Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses in the US and Canada.

Meta has invested heavily in this AI push, signalling its intent to lead the next major shift in how people engage with technology online.
