Rapper Mystika Charged With First Degree Rape, Wrongful Detention After Arrest

Rapper Mystika, a New Orleans rapper, has been charged with sexual assault for the third time.

The 51-year-old Grammy nominee was arrest over the weekend. After the Ascension Community Sheriff’s Office (APSO) responded to a nearby hospital report of a sexual assault survivor around midnight, according to an APSO release.

According to NBC News, the woman suffered minor injuries in the alleged attack.

After investigators identified him like a suspect, Mystikal now faces charges of first-degree rape. Simple robbery, domestic violence strangulation, false imprisonment, and simple property destruction. The investigation is ongoing. APSO and Mystika’s lawyers did not immediately respond to news request for comment.

“Our fact-finding investigation has only just begun. But we are hopeful that Mysikal will be released on bail,” his attorney, Roy Maughan, told NBC News. Mystika (born Michael Lawrence Tyler) previously plea guilty to sexual assault and racketeering in a 2003 plea deal after being charge with aggravate rape. She is accuss of forcing her hairdresser to have sex with her also two of her bodyguards.

According to News, the tarantula artist was sentence to six years in prison. However, he was release in 2010 and force to register as a sex offender in Louisiana.

Mystika was also charge with rape and kidnapping in 2017 and serve 18 months in prison before being release on $3 million bail, according to the Associated Press. According to the publication, the charges against him were drop after a second grand jury refuse to indict him.
