If you’re a London fan of little-known director Wes Anderson, like me, with £400 in your pocket, you’re in luck! The director gave his creative signature to the wagon from the 50s, and everyone was respectfully invited to hop on and ride it.
The project collaborates with luxury travel company Belmond. Who worked with Anderson to redesign a bespoke carriage for their UK Pullman train. The director of the Grand Hotel Budapest was asked to put the swan car, initially reserved for heads of state, under his spell.
“I love trains,” Anderson told Wallpaper. “I’ve had the opportunity to recreate train compartments and carriages many times in my films. Soo I was immediately happy to say ‘yes to this real possibility. (I was) very excited to do something new as I worked on this project.”

This train is reminiscent of Anderson’s classic aesthetic with its glamorous old-school design, symmetry, and bold colors. Based on the train’s name – the swans are a constellation in the Milky Way, which takes its name from the Latin word for “swan. the wood panels are filled with dreamlike clouds, stars, and waves, while each table is shaped like a champagne cooling swan.
This isn’t Anderson’s first foray into the railroad world. His 2007 film The Darjeeling Limited, in which three brothers travel around India, was shot primarily on a reconstructed car built on an actual Indian Railways train.
