Ruthless Barcelona leave FC Young Boys in tatters

Brazil forward Raphinha also shined in a dominant display by the La Liga leaders.

Robert Lewandowski scored a brace as Barcelona comprehensively hammered Young Boys in the Champions League.

Robert Lewandowski’s double helped Barcelona cruise to a commanding 5-0 victory over Young Boys in their Champions League clash.

The Polish striker was instrumental, while Brazil forward Raphinha also shined in a dominant display by the La Liga leaders.

Early Dominance from Barca

Lewandowski opened the scoring in just the 8th minute, finishing off a precise ball from Raphinha at the back post. Barca quickly doubled their lead through Raphinha, who netted the rebound after Pedri’s shot was blocked.

The hosts were in complete control and added a third goal just three minutes later when Inigo Martinez headed home from a Pedri free-kick.

Lewandowski Completes His Double

Barcelona’s dominance continued into the second half as Martinez’s header across goal was prodded in by Lewandowski six minutes after the restart, making it 4-0.

The Polish striker’s second goal of the night pushed his tally to 96 Champions League goals, making him the second player to score 50+ goals after turning 30 in the competition’s history, following Cristiano Ronaldo.

Young Boys’ Misery Compounded

Young Boys had a chance to pull one back when Joel Monteiro’s strike hit the crossbar in their best opportunity of the match.

However, their evening took another bad turn when Mohamed Ali Camara scored an own goal in the 81st minute, turning Alejandro Balde’s cross into his own net.

Monteiro thought he had finally scored for Young Boys in stoppage time, but the goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR check. The Swiss champions remain winless in the competition, following their 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa in their opener.

Lewandowski and Raphinha Shine

Lewandowski’s clinical finishing and Raphinha’s creativity were key to Barcelona’s triumph. Lewandowski’s double pushed his Champions League goal tally ever closer to the 100 mark, while Raphinha scored one and assisted another.

The Brazilian was a constant threat, taking six shots and delivering six key passes throughout the game, showing a strong response from Barca following their 2-1 loss to Monaco.

This emphatic victory sees Barcelona firmly in control of their Champions League campaign.
