Simu Liu Slam NBA All-Star Weekend Game’s Celebrity Look-Alike Segment
‘We just don’t look alike,’ Simu Liu wrote of a video montage comparison to an Asian fan.
Simu Liu has clarified his criticism of a celebrity look-alike segment aired during this weekend’s NBA Celebrity All-Star Game, which featured him also an audience member who appear to be of Asian descent side by side.
The Shang-Chi actor tweeted on Friday that the segment “wasn’t cool,” after a fan brought the big-screen comparison to his attention.
On Saturday, he clarified his message with a second tweet. “To be clear, the entire org also operations team surrounding all-star have been nothing short of amazing to myself and all of my friends. There was only one person with a camera here. Also, no isrespect to my man in the videotron! We’re bot beautiful, but we don’t look alike “Liu, 33, penned.
Liu’s representatives did not respond to requests for additional comment. The NBA c uld not be reached for comment right away.
On Friday, Liu was a member of Team Dwyane, which former NBA star Dwyane Wade led. His team tes included rapper 21 Savage, singer Janelle Monáe, also NFL player DK Metcalf, who was named MVP. With a s re of 81-78, Team Dwayne narrowly defeated Team Ryan. Liu alsoh s teammates competed against Kane Brown, WWE’s The Miz, and Jimmy Kimmel Live! Standout uillermo Rodriguez, who played for Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith’s team.
