Snapchat has introduced a wave of AI-driven features for its Lens+ subscribers, giving paying users new ways to transform conversations and photos into creative content, the company announced this week.
Chat-to-Song Feature Taps Viral Trend
The standout addition is a chat-to-song tool that lets users pick a message thread and a music genre, with the app then generating an AI song based on the text. The feature draws inspiration from a popular short-form video trend where creators turn text conversations into songs, and Snapchat is betting the format will boost engagement by building it directly into the app.
Alongside this, Snapchat launched AI Photoshoot, a retouching tool designed to fix imperfect shots — blinks, awkward expressions, or poor lighting — so users can salvage photos without retaking them. A companion AI Remix option allows users to reimagine existing images in entirely new scenes and contexts.
More Creative Extras and a Cautious Approach to AI Content
The update also brings AI-generated font styles, such as bubble letters and spray-paint text, plus a sticker remix tool that reworks existing stickers into fresh designs. Separately, Snapchat+ subscribers are getting a 3D home-modeling feature for the Snap Map, letting users customize and display a digital version of their home.
These additions build on Snapchat’s subscription business, but they arrive as the platform balances AI creativity with growing user fatigue toward AI content. Last month, Snapchat updated its Spotlight algorithm to reduce visibility for fully AI-generated videos, signaling the company’s effort to encourage authentic engagement even as it expands its own AI toolset.
