Snapchat Launches AI Integration for Ad Campaigns

Snapchat has introduced its Snapchat Ads Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, a new tool that lets advertisers connect their campaign management directly to third-party AI assistants, including Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. The launch positions Snapchat alongside other major platforms embracing AI-driven advertising workflows.

How the MCP Server Works

MCP connections allow platform data to flow into external AI tools, giving those systems more context to offer strategic guidance. For brands already relying on AI assistants for other business functions, this means their teams can now fold Snapchat ad creation and optimization into the same workflow rather than switching between separate systems. Snapchat noted that its performance data was previously invisible to AI tools that lacked a direct connection, limiting how well those tools could analyze campaigns and recommend next steps.

Data Access Remains Under Admin Control

Organization administrators will need to individually authorize each AI agent and define its access level, giving companies oversight of how much data is shared. At launch, every approved connection is read-only. Snapchat says write access is coming in a future update, at which point admins will be able to choose which AI agents can only view data versus which can actively make changes—potentially enabling AI-driven creation of ad campaigns down the line.

The move follows similar integrations from Meta, which rolled out its own MCP connector in April, as well as TikTok and Pinterest. As more advertising platforms adopt this approach, agentic AI management of campaigns could become a standard offering across the industry, gradually automating more of the campaign creation and launch process.
