Tate McRae “Sports Car” tops Billboard’s new music poll

Tate McRae’s latest single, “Sports Car,” has emerged as the winner of this week’s Billboard new music poll, capturing 25% of the vote and narrowly edging out other notable tracks.

The poll, published on Friday (Jan. 24), invited music fans to weigh in on the week’s freshest releases across genres.

A Standout Hit

Co-written by McRae alongside hitmakers Ryan Tedder, Grant Boutin, and Julia Michaels, “Sports Car” continues the pop sensation’s streak of high-energy, danceable tracks. The song’s whispered chorus builds into an electrifying frenzy, showcasing McRae’s signature style.

The single will feature on her upcoming third studio album, So Close to What, set to release on Feb. 21 through RCA Records. “Sports Car” follows her recent hits “2 hands” and “It’s ok I’m ok,” the latter of which topped Billboard’s Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart.

Upcoming Tour: The Miss Possessive Trek

Fans will soon have the chance to see McRae perform live as she kicks off her Miss Possessive Tour in March.

The tour, produced by Live Nation, will take her across South America, Europe, the U.K., and North America, beginning on March 18 at Mexico City’s Pepsi Center and concluding on Sept. 27 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Special guests Benee and Zara Larsson will join McRae on select dates:

• Benee: Supporting the Europe/U.K. leg of the tour.
• Zara Larsson: Accompanying McRae on the U.S. and Canada stops.

Poll Highlights

Close behind McRae in the poll was the “Other” category, which garnered nearly 24% of the vote, while Sexyy Red and Bruno Mars’ steamy collaboration, “Fat Juicy & Wet,” claimed third place with 22%.

Bruno Mars has been especially busy in recent months, following collaborations such as his Billboard Hot 100-topping tracks “Die With a Smile” with Lady Gaga and “APT.” with Rosé.
