TikTok’s 2026 Community Fest Puts Livestreaming Front and Centre

TikTok has unveiled its plans for Community Fest 2026, a summer-long initiative launching June 11 that places livestream creators at the heart of the experience. Now in its third year, the event combines educational programming, in-app competitions, and community celebrations to drive deeper engagement with TikTok Live.

A New Creator Academy Takes Centre Stage

For the first time, TikTok is launching a Community Fest Creator Academy — a global workshop series streamed via the @tiktok_livefest and @tiktoklive_us profiles. The curriculum is built around three modules: Live 101, which covers the technical basics of going live; The Art of Connection, focused on engaging audiences within the first five minutes; and Building Your Community, which explores TikTok Live tools and campaigns. The sessions draw on insights from established creators and are aimed at helping emerging broadcasters build loyal, active fanbases.

Match Mania Brings Competitive Energy to the Feed

Alongside the educational track, TikTok is running Match Mania — a global live tournament that pits creators against one another in friendly competition. Viewers can back their favourite creators, helping them unlock rewards and climb the rankings. The format is designed to make watching livestreams a participatory experience, not just a passive one.

The broader ambition behind Community Fest is clear. TikTok is looking to replicate the live commerce and entertainment ecosystem that has made Douyin — its Chinese counterpart — a dominant platform. With 833 million livestream viewers recorded in China as of December 2024, the opportunity is significant. Community Fest is TikTok’s most visible push yet to make that model work in Western markets.
