TikTok has announced a new multi-year partnership with the NFL, expanding the league’s presence on the app and introducing fresh engagement tools designed to deepen fan interaction throughout the year, not just on game days.
New Game Day Hubs and Fan Features
As part of the updated deal, TikTok will roll out NFL game day hubs powered by its GamePlan sports partnership program, which allows leagues to build a dedicated presence within the app. According to TikTok, the hubs will give fans “a space to discover content, engage with trending videos, complete fan-based tasks to earn exclusive benefits, and connect around the moments they care about most.” The company says this will help bring a new sports audience into its participatory fandom ecosystem.
Beyond the hubs, TikTok will feature more game highlights, archival footage, and season-long storytelling from the NFL and individual teams. Advertisers will also get expanded access to NFL-related trends through the platform’s Pulse Premiere offering, giving brands a more direct way to align with football content.
Why the Partnership Matters
TikTok noted that posts using the #NFL hashtag grew by more than 32% over the past year, reflecting the sport’s rising popularity among its user base. The platform has also reported that 59% of users find watching sports content on TikTok more entertaining than watching the actual games — a signal of how short-form video is reshaping fan behavior.
As sports leagues increasingly compete for attention across social platforms, this expanded NFL-TikTok alliance highlights a broader shift: fandom is no longer confined to the stadium or the broadcast, but increasingly lives inside scrollable, bite-sized, algorithm-driven feeds.
