“I loved every minute, and I still love it, so I’m going to play my senior year as this little girl played it first,” said Seattle Storm star Sue Byrd.

“I decided it would be my last year,” the 41-year-old Seattle Storm star said on Instagram Thursday. “I loved every minute and still love it, so I’ll be playing my final year like this little girl played her first #TheFinalYear.”
In his post, Bird shared a video of fans chanting “another year” in January. When he decided to play in the 2022 season. He also added that he brought his teenage image back to the pitch.
Bird also revealed his retirement decision in a video shared on the team’s Twitter page.
“Obviously, when I started the season, I tried to be as honest as possible about where I was,” he said. “I know to some extent that this will be my last year. But I want to make sure before I announce my retirement and do something like that, it is final.”
“Since the season ended, I almost knew it,” he added. Syosset, a New York native, said he wanted to announce before Storm played at the New York Liberty on Sunday.
“Once I looked at the schedule and started packing for this trip, I said. This will be the last time I’m playing in New York. This is the last time I play for my family and friends. That’s why the timing is like that,” Byrd said.
He added, “I feel very strongly announcing my retirement, saying it is my last year, to share with my family and friends everyone in New York who watched me grow so they could come and see me play one last time in the country. I’m from. So I’m excited. It’s also bitter, of course.”
