Elijah Wood Reveals Lord Of The Rings Orcs Based On Harvey Weinstein.
Key Sentence:
- In a bizarre revelation, Elijah Wood, who plays Frodo in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, says that one of the orcs in the film is based directly on the rapist Harvey Weinstein.
- The actor said it was “something like making love.”
The orc in question is perhaps the most disgusting, distorted, and terrifying of the entire trilogy. A lazy gray blob with thin, intricate strands of hair curling from its head. It’s not a flattering portrait of the former Hollywood producer. Who is currently serving a 23-year sentence in New York State Jail for a string of sexual assaults.
Wood said switching to Weinstein’s orc model was “something messe up. Commenting on Armchair Expert actor Dax Shepard’s podcast, he added, “Funny. It was talked about recently because Dom and Bill (who played hobbits Mary. And Pippin) talked to Sean Astin (Samwise) about his first memory of talking to New Zealand.”
“He has seen the orc mask.”
And one from the orc masks and I still remember it vividly was designed Elijah Wood to look like Harvey Weinstein. Like he was screwe. “I think it’s good to talk about it now,” Wood said. “This man is a bloody prisoner. Nonsense.”
Lord from the Rings director Peter Jackson reportedly struggled with Weinstein in his quest to lift the giant trilogy off the ground. Jackson wanted to make at least 2 films, but Weinstein, the co-founder of Miramax. Where the film was first develop, asked him to cram all three books into one movie. At some point, he also threatened to replace him with Quentin Tarantino.
Knowing Weinstein didn’t share a vision for the project, the Lord of the Rings team reportedly skipped the script at another studio. Which is why he was pick up by Bob Shay, founder of New Line Cinema. Who approved the trio to shoot the film.
