LinkedIn Expands Company Page Verification Beyond Premium Users
LinkedIn has significantly expanded access to its company page verification program, moving beyond its initial requirement of Premium Company Page subscriptions to include businesses demonstrating high engagement and commercial activity on the platform.
The professional networking giant launched company page verification in August 2024, initially limiting the coveted blue tick and shield verification badge to a select number of pages. The verification mark serves as a crucial trust signal, helping legitimate businesses stand out while combating impersonation attempts.
New Eligibility Criteria Opens Doors for More Businesses
According to LinkedIn’s updated Help page, eligible companies can now request verification through their desktop Settings page. The platform considers businesses with “meaningful engagement with LinkedIn, such as posting regularly, or responding to members” alongside those maintaining “an established commercial relationship with LinkedIn.”
This commercial relationship extends beyond Premium subscriptions to include businesses actively using LinkedIn’s recurring products like Ads, Jobs, or other paid services. The expansion represents a strategic shift toward recognizing genuine platform participation rather than purely subscription-based access.
Verification Process Remains Thorough Despite Expansion
Despite broader eligibility, LinkedIn maintains its internal verification process, manually reviewing each application. With over 60 million businesses listed on the platform, this comprehensive approach ensures authenticity but creates processing delays.
The company acknowledges receiving “a high volume of verification requests daily,” with applicants receiving email notifications about their request status. Successful applicants must complete additional verification steps to finalize their company page certification.
This gradual rollout reflects LinkedIn’s commitment to maintaining verification integrity while scaling access to help legitimate businesses enhance their professional credibility on the platform.
