Convicted Paedophile Rearrested for Grooming Minor on TikTok
Imran Dad, a convicted paedophile released into the community by a High Court ruling, has been arrested again for allegedly grooming a 15-year-old girl on TikTok.
Dad, 33, had been allowed back on the streets following the High Court ruling that released asylum seekers from immigration detention centres. The recent charges include nine counts of failing to comply with reporting obligations and a trespass charge. Dad posted a bizarre TikTok video during his release, and although he is not charged for it, the nature of his correspondence with a minor is concerning. His history includes sexual abuse against children, violent assaults, and other offences. The court deemed him an unacceptable risk to the community, and he was refused bail.
Alarming TikTok Grooming and Prior Offences
Dad’s recent arrest reveals disturbing interactions with a 15-year-old girl on TikTok, marked by sexually charged conversations. The magistrate described the exchanges as “borderline grooming,” potentially leading to additional charges. Dad’s history of child sexual abuse dates back to 2011, shortly after he arrived in Australia from Afghanistan. His offences include violent assaults, breaches of intervention orders, and drug possession. Dad, who once believed it was legal to have sex with minors based on practices in his homeland, was previously jailed in 2012 for running a prostitution ring targeting underage girls in state care and having sex with a 13-year-old in exchange for cigarettes.
Brother’s Plea for Release and Business Offer
During the bail application, Dad’s lawyer argued for his release, presenting his brother, Mohammad Dad, as a witness. The brother offered a job at his carwash business, Masters Hand Car Wash & Detailing, and even pledged to shadow Dad to prevent further criminal activity. Despite the plea, Dad was remanded in custody, and the court expressed concern over the risk he poses to the community, especially considering his history and recent interactions with minors.
