Former Dallas Cowboys player Gavin Escobar has passed away after a climbing accident in California
Former Dallas Cowboys Escobar, who played five seasons in the NFL, was most recently a firefighter with the Long Beach Fire Department
Former Dallas Cowboys tights Gavin Escobar has died in a rock climbing accident in California.
The former NFL player-turn-firefighter, 31, was one of two rock climbers found by first responders Wednesday at Tuckwitz Rock near Idyllwild in the San Bernardino National Forest, authorities said on Twitter.
“Rescuers were grant access to the locations of the victims,” the California and Riverside County Fire Department added in a follow-up tweet. Which said 33-year-old Escobar and Chelsea Walsh “died at the scene.”
Escobar played five years in the NFL four years with the Cowboys. After a 47th second-round draft also one with the Baltimore Ravens from 2013 to 2018. He also played at San Diego State University, where he played two-on-one. All-Mountain West Conference first team player and Scholar-Athlete award according to his high school alma mater.
Escobar’s former team, the Cowboys and Aztecs, posted the tribute on social media on Thursday night.
