Jennifer Lopez says living a proud Latina made her feel special in the early days of her career
“I went into a world like Hollywood, where we weren’t represented at all. I mostly felt like a unicorn,” Jennifer Lopez said in an exclusive clip ahead of her Tuesday appearance on Today.

In an exclusive clip shared with news ahead of Tuesday’s segment, Lopez, 53, talks to Morgan Radford of News about accepting her culture and body, stating, “This is my body.”
Radford notes that Lopez refuses to let anyone “infuse” her into anything other than her authentic self.
“I used to be,” Lopez said, adding that her parents encouraged her to be “proud of who I am” when she was young. “So when I go out into a world like Hollywood, where we’re not represented, I feel almost like a unicorn. “I’m Latina. I’m Jennifer Lopez from the Bronx. Also my parents are Puerto Rican; I’m Puerto Rican.” And I think that makes me feel special.”
Lopez also remembers loving her body, even though she didn’t see many other women who looked like her.
“The whole body is also a thing. They all seem like size zero models, tall, blonde — pretty, a certain kind of beauty — but there’s another kind of beauty that I grew up with.” In July, Lopez showed off her body in a show celebrating her 53rd birthday.
