Keke Palmer shares a skincare battle to reveal ‘I’m not perfect
The actress and OLLY ambassador have opened up to news to openly share her experiences with adult acne stemming from her PCOS diagnosis. Fans love Keke Palmer for her electric personality and ability to keep it accurate on all her issues.
In recent years, the 28-year-old actress and singer have opened up about her struggle with adult acne. Revealing in December 2020 that the cause is a hormonal condition called PCOS, or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. At the time, the Hustlers star shared a series of nude selfies on Instagram showing off her acne. Prompting comments of support and appreciation from her followers.
Although her openness to experiences helped her self-confidence, Palmer, an OLLY ambassador. Told news that she wanted people to realize that when she became a celebrity, she was like everyone else.
“I’ve never tried to define myself by anything, whether it’s my skin or whatever I stand for,” she told news.
“I think when it comes to PCOS, I’m just sharing my journey to learning about myself. And I think, as a young woman, everyone can understand that.
“I share because I think many people think I’m perfect or they think things are easy for me. “I think a lot of times people just put celebrities on this crazy pedestal,” Palmer said. “My honesty comes from wanting her to know, like hey, and I’m going through a lot. And by the way, maybe you can help me, give me some advice or give me some information. “
The actress says it’s easy to get carried away when you see “perfect skin” online. Leading people to believe something is wrong when they aren’t the same.
“Because of social media and what we consider aesthetically pleasing, often skin looks flawlessly clean,” explains Palmer. “But not all skin is spotless like that. This is not normal. And that’s why I think it’s important to normalize skin texture and blemishes.”
Since learning to manage his PCOS, Palmer’s skincare routine has become “simplified” after realizing that he no longer needs to “rely on local health as much as internal health.”
