Yamal Returns With Instant Assist in Barcelona Win

Lamine Yamal demonstrated his extraordinary talent by providing an assist within just one minute of his return from injury, helping Barcelona secure a crucial 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday.

The 17-year-old prodigy entered the match in the 58th minute, replacing Roony Bardghji in his first appearance after missing four matches due to a pubic-area injury sustained during international duty with Spain. Within 60 seconds of stepping onto the pitch, Yamal set up Robert Lewandowski’s go-ahead goal that proved to be the match-winner.

Barcelona Extends Winning Streak

This fifth consecutive victory across all competitions propelled Barcelona to the top of La Liga, establishing a one-point lead over Real Madrid, who suffered a surprising 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Saturday. Barcelona coach Hansi Flick expressed his pride in the team’s performance, stating the victory would help them continue improving.

Historic Scoring Run Continues

The Catalan giants have now scored in 44 consecutive matches across all competitions, equaling a remarkable club record last achieved in the 1940s. This impressive streak began in late 2024 following a 1-0 league loss at Leganes.

Yamal’s impact extended beyond the assist, as he had a goal disallowed for offside in the 74th minute and nearly created another opportunity for Lewandowski in the 84th minute, only for the Polish striker to be denied by the crossbar. Flick welcomed the teenager’s return, emphasizing how valuable his presence is to the squad’s attacking prowess.
