Meta Accidentally Reveals New AI Glasses Models

Meta inadvertently provided an early glimpse into its upcoming smart glasses portfolio when a promotional video briefly appeared on its YouTube channel before being quickly removed. The accidental leak showcased four distinct AI glasses models ahead of the company’s Connect conference scheduled for this week.

Revolutionary HUD Technology Takes Center Stage

The standout reveal was Meta’s “Hypernova” HUD glasses, featuring Ray-Ban branding and a heads-up display capability. These glasses will include an innovative wrist controller that uses differential electromyography (EMG) technology to detect muscle movements and translate them into digital commands. The HUD functionality enables users to send messages, receive directions, and identify objects within their field of view, representing a significant leap toward replacing smartphones as primary communication devices.

Athletic-Focused Oakley Partnership Expands

Meta’s collaboration with Oakley introduces the Sphaera model, specifically designed for athletic performance. These glasses feature a centrally-positioned camera to optimize weight distribution and focus on capturing critical training data for athletes. The design builds upon Oakley’s existing Sphaera frame, known for maximizing athletic performance.

The leaked footage also revealed updates to Meta’s current Ray-Ban AI glasses and Oakley HSTN models. Industry reports suggest the Hypernova glasses will retail for approximately $800, positioning them as a premium offering in the growing smart glasses market.

With Apple developing its second-generation Vision Pro and Snapchat preparing consumer AR Specs for 2026, Meta appears well-positioned to maintain its market leadership. The company’s existing AI infrastructure and established manufacturing pipeline provide competitive advantages as the battle for AR/AI wearable dominance intensifies.
