Meta Announces New Display Glasses Features at CES 2026

Meta is positioning itself as the leader in digital wearables with exciting new Display glasses features unveiled at CES 2026. While not full augmented reality, these heads-up display glasses represent a significant step toward mainstream AR adoption this year. The announcement showcases Meta’s commitment to establishing new interaction parameters for future AR applications in real-world environments.

Teleprompter and Messaging Innovations

The company is rolling out a phased teleprompter feature that displays speech text directly on the in-lens screen, allowing presenters to maintain eye contact with their audience while reading notes. The discreet system uses customizable text-based cards and navigation controlled via Meta’s neural band. Additionally, Meta’s new messaging process enables users to write messages with their finger, with the neural band detecting signals and translating finger movements into text for WhatsApp and Messenger communications.

Expanding Connectivity and Partnerships

Meta is expanding pedestrian navigation to 32 cities while establishing a strategic partnership with Garmin to integrate the neural band with Garmin’s “Unified Cabin” in-vehicle technology. This collaboration allows passengers to control vehicle interfaces through gestures, scrolling to select apps and pinching to launch them.

The massive demand for Meta Display glasses has forced the company to pause international expansion while boosting production. With full AR glasses expected next year, Meta’s refinements position it as the dominant force in the wearables revolution. As Mark Zuckerberg predicts glasses may become the new phones, these incremental updates support Meta’s broader vision of controlling digital communication across multiple platforms and devices.
