MOBO: Dave and Little Sims are among the nominees

Dave leads this year’s MOBO nominations at number five as the awards show returns with his first live show since 2017. Newcomer Central Cee is just behind with four nominations.

Little Simz, Arlo Parks, Ghetts, and Cleo Sol have three, including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. The awards, which have honored black music since 1996, took place in Coventry on December 5.

Mahalia and the Nines won two prizes at last year’s long-distance event, which was only broadcast online. Not a bad debut for MOBO for London Central rapper Cee with four nominations.

They contain the best male acts and songs of the year for the topic of engagement. Previous winners have also included Stormzy – who won three awards in 2017, and Kano, who was named best album of 2016. Other names honored at recent events include Krept & Konan, Nicola Adams, Skepta, Lenny Henry, Ms. Dynamite, and Sam Smith.

People can now vote who they want to win on the MOBO website.

Soul singer Cleo Sol was recognized for her latest album, Mother, and this year she was nominated for Best R&B/Soul Artist, Best Female Artist, and Album of the Year.

The first MOBO Award will also be awarded at this year’s awards ceremony for the best training. Organizers said they wanted to “recognize the power of culture and urge that the genre has become in recent years.”

The MC nominees are Headie One, Tion Wayne, Unknown T, Digga D, and M1llionz. Arlo Parks was nominated for Best Newcomer, Best Artist, and Album of the Year for Collapsed In Sunbeams. The past 20 months have been a huge challenge for artists everywhere,” explains Kanya King MOBO CBE, founder, and director of the MOBO Group.

“As always, we see artists rising and adapting, even in a global pandemic.

When is it turned on?

The ceremony will take gap on Sunday, December 5, at the Coventry Building Society Arena. It will be broadcast on YouTube, with One broadcasting interviews and behind-the-scenes shows.
