Priyanka Chopra Hails Kalyani Priyadarshan as ‘India’s First Female Superhero’ in Lokah Chapter 1

International actress Priyanka Chopra has joined the growing list of Bollywood celebrities endorsing the Malayalam superhero film “Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.” Taking to Instagram on Friday, Chopra shared the movie’s poster featuring lead actress Kalyani Priyadarshan and called her “India’s first female superhero.”

Bollywood Stars Rally Behind Regional Cinema

The former Miss World’s Instagram post read: “India’s first female superhero is here. Congratulations @dgsalmaan and the entire team of Lokah. This story has been already been winning hearts in Malayalam, and now, it’s out in Hindi too. P.S. added it to my watchlist already! Have you?”

Chopra’s endorsement follows similar praise from other major Bollywood figures. Alia Bhatt previously described the film as “such a fresh blend of mythic folklore & mystery,” expressing her eagerness to support such innovative cinema. Action star Akshay Kumar also lauded Kalyani’s performance, noting that “talent runs in the family,” referencing her father, renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan.

A New Chapter in Indian Superhero Cinema

Directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, “Lokah Chapter 1” presents Kalyani as Chandra, a mythology-inspired heroine navigating a modern world filled with folklore and fantasy elements. The film features an ensemble cast including Naslen, Sandy, Arun Kurian, and veteran actors Vijayaraghavan and Raghunath Paleri.

The movie’s success in Malayalam cinema and subsequent Hindi release marks a significant milestone for regional films crossing linguistic barriers, with major Bollywood personalities actively promoting diverse storytelling in Indian cinema.
