Their collaboration Cold Heart (Pnau Remix), which reworked hits such as Sacrifice, Rocket Man and Kiss the Bride, reached number one after three weeks at number two. He most recently topped the singles charts in 2005 when he appeared on the posthumous single by American rapper 2Pac Ghetto Gospel.
Cold Heart has 64,000 chart sales, thanks in large part to 5.9 million streams. Sir Elton’s first number one song came out of a collaboration with another singer, Kiki Dee, in “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” from 1976. Dua Lipa’s collaboration with the singer-songwriter, who recently underwent hip surgery, builds on her third number-one single, following her breakthrough hits New Rules and One Kiss with Calvin Harris.
Their musical relationship – a temporary rework of some of his most famous songs, remixed by Australian dancer trio Pnau – ended Ed Sheeran’s four-week stint at the top of the charts. Last month, Sir Elton postponed his upcoming tour of England and Europe from 2021 to 2023 due to a hip injury from this summer when he fell “clumsily.”

Elsewhere on Friday’s album charts, Sam Fender secured second place with Seventeen Going Under, for a total of 44,000 sales. Newcastle United fans naturally hangover on the breakfast couch; it’s just weeks after the football club’s takeover at St James Park marked the night before.

“Our sons Elijah and Zachary love her and [Sir Elton’s husband, director] David [Furnish]. In a way, he is like one of our eldest sons. And it’s good when we meet each other.” He added, “We make music, and we have fun when we’re in the trash, and that’s a great thing. The friendship that developed is so beautiful.
