Will Smith Visits LA Lakers and Talks’ Gratitude in Times of Troubles’
The Los Angeles Lakers announced Wednesday that the team had visited Will Smith as part of the ‘Genius Series’… Will Smith is back in acting also the spotlight.
The Los Angeles Lakers announced Wednesday that the 54-year-old actor, who has remained silent since the Oscar controversy in March, had visited the team as part of the Laker’s genius talk. The event is an annual conference where celebrities speak to groups for inspiration.
The Oscar winner received a Lakers #14 jersey and was photographed with the team also team owner Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka. According to the Lakers, the actor spoke of “strength through being together and practising gratitude in difficult times.”
The team is currently in a losing season.
Smith’s message is said to have been inspired by “a theme in his forthcoming masterpiece, Emancipation.”… Smith also shared a team photo and wrote on Instagram: “Check out @lakers #Emancipation and talk about their Genius film series… thank you so much, everyone, for coming!! Next stop… my @sixers.”
At the film’s screening in early October, Smith explained the film’s theme and message.
“Throughout my career, I’ve turned down a lot of slavery-based films,” Smith said at the screening, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I never wanted to show it to us like that. This is a film about freedom. Film about resilience. It is a film about faith. It is a film about a man’s heart – what can be call the first viral image.
