Meta Unveils Ads Super Burst and First Impression Ads at Brand Summit
Meta has announced three advertising updates at its brand building summit on Oct. 15, aimed at helping brands secure greater exposure and better understand its impact. The package includes Ads Super Burst, a test of First Impression Ads and expanded Reels Trending Ads options, alongside a new cumulative measurement tool.
Ads Super Burst Targets Key Brand Moments
Ads Super Burst lets advertisers book a window of 3 to 24 hours to reach their audience at TV-like scale. Meta says most brands have only a few moments each year that matter more than the rest, such as a product launch, an awards night or the first weekend of a sports season. Category exclusivity is also available, meaning no competitor in the same category can book that window. It is a premium option with higher costs, but it could suit brands tying promotions to major events.
Meta is also testing First Impression Ads in the United States, which place a brand’s promotion in the first ad position in a user’s Feed. The test is limited to one brand per day, though Meta says advertiser appetite is strong. LinkedIn, Snapchat and TikTok already offer similar priority placement options.
Reels Trending Ads and New Measurement
Meta is continuing to build out Reels Trending Ads, which show promotions alongside trending Reels content. Advertisers can now choose from 15 standard topics, including new categories such as Home & Garden and Spanish language content, plus seasonal lineups. Targeting capabilities are also being expanded.
Finally, Meta is testing Aggregated View Time, a product that gives advertisers cumulative exposure data for video ads over a chosen period. Meta says repeated exposure can significantly affect sales intent, and the metric highlights extended exposure rather than single impressions. As short-form video reshapes how watch time is measured, it could become increasingly valuable.
