Aishwarya Rai Takes Legal Action Against AI Image Misuse
Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has filed a comprehensive lawsuit in the Delhi High Court, seeking to protect her personality and publicity rights from widespread digital misuse. The former Miss World is taking decisive action against multiple websites that are illegally using her name to sell merchandise and circulating AI-generated morphed photographs without authorization.
Court Orders Injunction Against Fraudulent Websites
The Delhi High Court, presided over by Justice Tejas Karia, has assured that injunction orders will be passed against websites unauthorized using the actor’s images. Senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, representing Rai, presented evidence of numerous websites exploiting her celebrity status for commercial gain. One particularly egregious example is aishwaryaworld.com, which falsely claims to be the “one and only authorized and official website of Aishwarya Rai” despite having no legitimate connection to the actress.
Financial Fraud and Intimate AI-Generated Content
The legal action also addresses more serious violations, including an entity called ‘Aishwarya Nation Wealth’ that fraudulently lists her as chairperson. Sethi emphasized that his client has no knowledge of or association with this organization. The lawsuit further tackles the circulation of AI-generated intimate photographs that are “completely unreal” and unauthorized. Unknown entities, referred to as “John Does” in the legal filing, have been collecting money by falsely claiming association with the Bachchan family matriarch.
This landmark case highlights the growing concern over digital impersonation and AI misuse in the entertainment industry, setting a precedent for celebrity rights protection in the digital age.
