Elon Musk now works at Twitter headquarters and thanks staff for their long hours

Elon Musk Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, emailed the social media giant’s employees on Friday. Thanking them for their long hours since the October 28 acquisition.

Elon Musk said he stayed at Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters on Thursday night. He invited employees who had returned to the San Francisco office after experiencing a 50% downsizing last week to join him.

Overnight, Twitter appeared to have suspended its $7.99-a-month Twitter Blue subscription service. Which allows social network users to pay to receive blue ticks for verified subscribers. Many users abuse the new customer badge to impersonate brands. And celebrities who receive blue ticks through the company’s native verification system.

Brands featured include pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly, multinational video game company Nintendo and electric vehicle maker Musk Tesla.

Two current Twitter employees told news that they received calls from colleagues and clients about changes to the platform.

Someone said Twitter would make product changes more slowly and carefully because they have to consider user behavior, security, and the impact on sales. Musk’s new, more experimental approach has alarmed many, including advertisers also the Federal Trade Commission.

Employees also said they wanted more clarity on the company’s new vacation and back-to-office policies. And Musk’s email left them wondering. Friday is a national holiday in the United States, Veterans Day, also some workers don’t expect to have to come in. While others wonder if they’ve agreed to waivers that will allow them to continue working from home. Two employees told news that they had yet to receive formal guidance on teleworking from the company’s human resources department.

Musk told Twitter employees on Wednesday that he was reversing the company’s previous “work from home forever” policy, instituted by his friend and personal collaborator, former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.
