Former Notre Dame also NFL player Paul Duncan died aged 35
The ex-NFL Former Notre Dame player’s wife posted the news on her Instagram, sharing the couple’s two daughters’ reactions to the report.
Former NFL player Paul Duncan has died. He is 35 years old.
Duncan, who joined the Denver Broncos like a free agent, was running on July 16. When he had a heart attack, which his wife, Ellen Duncan, posted on Instagram.
“Paul had a heart attack while jogging in our neighborhood,” he wrote. “He was declared brain dead today. We will conduct a medical examination to determine the cause of death.”
DeKalb County Medical Investigation Bureau, Ga. says Duncan’s death is being investigated; News reported Saturday, “His body will be donated to anyone in need of organs also for medical research,” his wife notes. He thanked everyone for their prayers also support and said he would provide more updates on funeral services later.
Ellen and Paul have two daughters, Dylan, 6, and Sloan, 4. Paul’s obituary in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution stated that he is proud to be the father of a daughter.
“He took on the role of ‘dad girl,’ from building a playground in the backyard to getting his hair done in front of the school,” the award reads. “Dylan and Sloane love Paul’s impromptu dance parties in the kitchen and his adventures with them on the water. Whether on the lake with the family or by the pool with friends.” In another July 20 post, Ellen shared her daughter’s reaction to the news that his father had died.
“When I first told the girls about Paul, Dylan wanted to hear the song ‘Dad just added a morning playlist,'” the caption reads.
“I had no clue what he meant, so I looked at our Amazon music app. And he pointed to ‘I Can Only Imagine’ by @themercyme,” Ellen wrote. “Paul was dancing when he met Jesus.” Paul was the Notre Dame offensive lineman at college from 2005-2009. The team posted the award on Twitter.
“Our prayers are with Paul Duncan’s family and friends. Great teammates but most importantly a loving husband and father.”
Paul’s obituary calls him a “dedicated man of faith and family” and “a strong and joyful presence in every life he touches.”
