Instagram Launches Watch History Feature for Reels

Instagram chief Adam Mosseri announced a new Watch History feature that makes it easier for users to find any video they’ve watched within the app. The feature, available in the latest Instagram version, displays thumbnails of all Reels viewed over the past 30 days, addressing a common user frustration of losing track of videos you want to revisit or share.

Easy Access Through Settings

To access your watch history, navigate to your Profile, then go to Settings and select Activity, where you’ll find the new Watch History option. Once there, you can sort videos from oldest to newest or vice versa, search by specific date ranges, and filter content by individual creators or accounts. This streamlined navigation makes discovering previously watched content straightforward and intuitive.

A Feature TikTok Already Has

The Watch History addition mirrors a similar feature already available on TikTok, demonstrating Meta’s continued strategy of incorporating popular competitor features into its platforms. The functionality proves particularly valuable when users skip past videos without bookmarking them, only to remember wanting to share or revisit them later. Rather than endlessly modifying search queries to locate forgotten content, users now have a dedicated archive spanning the last month of their browsing activity.

While limited to 30 days of history rather than permanent records, the feature offers a practical solution for recovering lost content and discovering products or posts worth sharing with others.
